#1 More veggies = more fibre and water
Just eating plant-based alone automatically increases your fibre and water intake. Even if you eat vegan junk food. This is because most plants naturally have insoluble fibre, which makes the digestive flow much easier and thus prevents cancers and other intestinal diseases.
A high-fibre diet also makes you feel full longer. This helps regulate your blood sugar levels and prevents constipation, diarrhea and acid reflux. For people who are starting a vegan diet, the sudden high fibre intake may cause digestive issues for the first week or two. This is absolutely normal since the body needs to get used to that sudden change! To help that issue, make sure you drink a lot of water and don’t forget to include some healthy fats to help lubricate the digestive tracts.
#2 Antibiotics from meat = not good for our digestion
We all had to take antibiotics in some time in our lives due to bacterial infections we may have gotten. One huge side effect in taking antibiotics is that it kills the good bacteria in our stomachs. This causes our digestive system to go haywire, since the good bacterias are essential for the digestion process.
Animals in agriculture are fed excess amounts of antibiotics to prevent diseases due to the tight and gruesome conditions that they live in. These antibiotics end up in their muscles and mammary glands. So humans that eat the standard Western diet consisting of meat and dairy are basically ingesting antibiotics unnecessarily every day, causing all kinds of issues (not just digestive ones) such as antibiotic resistance.
#3 We humans are meant to be vegetarians/vegans
Yes, in science class it has always been taught that humans are omnivores: we eat meat and vegetables. But this old-age teaching has been proven over and over again that it is false!
Here are just a few anatomical traits which prove that we are actually herbivores:
Human babies stop producing the enzyme lactase after being breastfed, so we are essentially lactose intolerant from that moment on.
Our intestine tracts are longer than carnivores since they need to digest meat much quicker in order to prevent meat rotting within their bodies and causing diseases, i.e. food poisoning or colon cancer. Our bodies allow more time to digest plants to really benefit from the nutrients. This is why it is actually dangerous for us to consume meat since it may have more time to rot and cause disease within our own bodies. Most meats take hours to fully digest in human bodies. Combine that and warm, moist environments in our digestive tract and, boom, food poisoning occurs. Have you ever met a vegan who got food poisoning? Vegans can only get food poisoning when their food and juices were not prepared (cooked, cleaned etc.) properly or are stupid and eat rotten food.
Our stomach acids are much weaker than carnivores because we pre-chew our foods and don’t eat whole animals that need strong acids to break everything down quickly.
Our lack of claws, short canine teeth and lack of will to hunt for our food also proves our incapability and inability for us to naturally consume and digest meat. You don’t look at an animal and think: yum, this will be my dinner for tonight! Even if you do, you can’t physically hunt it anyway without any external help, like a gun or a spear. Human children normally also don’t like watching animals being hunted or slaughtered.
Us humans don’t thrive on a high-fat diet. Dietary fat is usually stored directly after digestion, whereas carnivores use fat as energy sources.
So if it’s proven that we are meant to eat plants and that our digestive systems thrive the most on a plant-based diet, why go against nature?
